With five star ratings for the treatment of heart attack and stroke, Holy Name Medical Center's Emergency Department is equipped to handle life-threatening conditions with expertise and compassion. Each year, approximately 42,000 patients are treated in Holy Name's Emergency Department. Staffed by board-certified emergency medicine physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, and registered nurses with certification in emergency nursing, the Emergency Department is also a key component of Holy Name's comprehensive stroke services. The Medical Center has been designated a Primary Stroke Center by the Joint Commission.

As a New Jersey Department of Health-designated Medical Coordination Center, Holy Name is ready to handle large-scale emergencies. In the event of a major disaster or terrorist incident, Holy Name will partner with public health and emergency management system to provide regional planning and coordination of medical activities and resources.
